From my Asian teachers, these lovely forms I teach are thousands of years old, and when practiced, are like unlocking energetic portals that nurture, nourish, and sustain all that is full of health and life within us. Practicing is taking time out of busy schedules and mental clutter to unify and harmonize with a playful mystery. Practicing leaves me clear, and purposeful. Practicing forms together is energizing and mood shifting.
Among the Qigong Forms we practice are Lohan Eighteen Hand, Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade), Five Animals, Spinal Qigong taught to me by my friend Master Ping Zhen Cheng, and a variety of forms from Grandmaster Li Tai Liang’s style, Xinyi-Dao.
The tai chi and bagua forms I use are all from Grandmaster Li Tai Liang’s Xinyi-Dao. I feel privileged to be able to pass on what has been taught to me. Lohan qigong, taught to me by Grandmaster Chen Yong Fa’s indoor student, Greg Winder, is a gem of a form and I’m so happy that it’s in my qigong repertory.
Qigong and the internal martial arts tai chi, bagua, xinyi are health giving for body, mind, and heart. They’ve helped me to go deeper in understanding our physical structure and movement dynamics, and have given me insight into the cultivation rather than depletion of energy.
In every class we start with simple forms. I pay special attention to alignment in these classes, and to the opening and closing of joints, to the principles of yin and yang, and to the understanding and application of six harmonies (three physical and three internal). All student levels are welcome.
